First thing’s first. We had our sonogram yesterday and we are having another boy!!! I am 20 weeks along and everything looks great! He is measuring about 5 days ahead of schedule, but our due date of September 11, 2011 will stay the same. He is a growing boy and he is extremely active. He moved all over the place during the exam. I am a bridesmaid in Jimmie and Andrea’s wedding on September 10, so hopefully he comes early!
We also got a full price offer on our house yesterday afternoon, so we had a big day! The buyer is a girl from San Antonio, who lived in the same neighborhood as we did! She is getting married on June 4th and her Dad is buying them a house. We met them yesterday. They were having their realtor take their picture on our porch swing when we drove up. They were so embarrassed but we thought it was adorable. They are so in love with our home and can’t wait to call it their first home. They couldn’t say thank you enough and kept saying how excited they are. It is such a wonderful feeling knowing that the house that I love so much, is going to be loved by a new couple. We close on June 22nd….Now we just have to find a place to live!
This is going to be one long post since I have 3 months worth of fun to catch up on. I wil go back to January….
Zach and I were co-hosts for Brian and Kelley’s baby shower at the Kriete’s house on January 15th. They were expecting their baby girl, Elliot on February 16th.
Porter and I like to head to the park and January 27th was a very nice day so we met up with our friend Sam and his mom, Margaret. Sam was born about 3 weeks after Porter and Margaret is expecting another boy a few days before my due date. She is a great friend who I met while teaching together.
One of Porter’s favorite things is bathtime. He especially loves “Naked Time” right before bathtime. This is when I get him undressed prior to his bath and he runs around the house naked while I yell, “Heeeeee’s NAKED!” He proceeds to fall backwards on the carpet and rolls around. He finds great joy in this. Here he is on January 28th. He decided to start getting undressed in the kitchen even though it was not bath time. You have to love the cute belly and dark socks! We have captured “Naked time” on video, but it is a bit much to post… 🙂
Our winter was quite cold this year, especially in February. Porter has seen lots of snow in his short life considering he lives in Texas! We had a pretty big snow storm come through February 3-5.
Next up came Super Bowl Sunday. Brian, Tiffany and Tyler Kriete had us all over for a viewing party. The halftime show turned into a dance party for the kids!
Porter loves, loves, loves his Mommy, but he is a true Daddy’s boy at heart. In February, I spent many weekends running errands to prepare for putting the house on the market. This left lots of Porter and Daddy time. I loved coming home and seeing my boys playing or being in the other room cleaning and hearing Zach telling Porter stories and teaching him how to do various things. One thing he has taught Porter is how to swing a golf club. Porter definitely has Jacobs genes. He now uses everything as a golf club from water bottles, spoons, bats, crayons, ANYTHING. He even makes a little grunt when he hits the ball. He actually laces his fingers too! One day I came home from shopping to find sidewalk drawings on our driveway. It warmed my heart to picture Zach and Porter drawing on the concrete together.
Brian and Kelley’s due date came and went without any sign of Baby Elliot. After a week of waiting, Kelley was induced on February 22nd and welcomed the arrival of Elliot Jeanne Christian. They will probably call her Ellie or Ella. She was tall and skinny like her mom and dad at 5 lbs, 14 oz and 19 3/4 inches. We are honored that Brian and Kelley have asked us to be Elliot’s Godparents!
One day (March 2) after grocery shopping, I was taking the groceries into the house while Porter played in the backyard. He was very quiet and when I checked on him, I found him taking a load off. Grocery shopping is tough work.
Grandma and Granddad came for a quick visit on March 5th and 6th. They needed to get their Porter fix!
Porter loves the park, but he especially loves the swing. Here he is swinging away on March 10th.
Porter still loves the Little Gym…. and everyone there loves him. Everyone thinks he is a riot. Here he is demonstrating the skill of the day on March 11th.
On Saturday, March 12th we had our 5th and final St. Patty’s Day Party. What used to be a crazy, day long drunk fest has now turned into yet another reason to get all our babies together.
Cheering and clapping are 2 of Porter’s favorite things. He cheers for the golfers on TV, he cheers along with the Dr. Phil audience and he cheers at the Little Gym when they introduce each person. It makes everyone laugh.
As previously mentioned, Porter can’t get enough of swinging. We don’t have a swing for him, so instead he has found that the porch swing does the trick (March 25th)
On March 26th, I finally broke down and had Porter’s first haircut. They only took a little off, since I love his longer do, but boy, he did not like it!
We love family playtime. Whether it is playing and reading in Porter’s room or playing golf, basketball, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and riding our car outside. Here we are playing on April 14th and 16th.
Porter enjoys anything with handles. Grandma gave him an Elmo basket for Easter and he carried it around the house like a purse for days. Gamma gave him some Easter buckets and he found a new way to accessorize.
Like I said, Porter is a riot. He makes us laugh all day. Everywhere we go, he waves and says hi to everyone we pass. He brings a smile to everyone’s face. People comment all the time on what a social, happy, cute and funny baby he is. He doesn’t know many words, but some of the words he does say are: “Dada”- he calls everyone Dada… I told you he is Daddy’s boy. “Mama”- he doesn’t really call me Mama (I am Dada too), but he often says it when he wants more of something or is upset. “Ididit”- yes it is all one word, and he says it after he does any accomplishment, big or small. “meow”- he loves to talk to the cats. “Dye”- this is his word for bye… a little embarrassing that he tells people to die whenever we leave. “Hi”- this is always accompanied by a big wave. “pss”- this is oops. “cat”- of course. He tries to say thanks, he does sign language for “more”, and we are teaching him the signs for “help”, “thank you”, “water”, and “please”.
Phew, we are finally caught up. We are off to Granbury today for Easter. My parents are in Positano, Italy right now and are then headed to Paris, France.
Porter- You are growing up so fast! You will be a great big brother. Have fun in your new home and help mommy pack your toys so she doesn’t get too tired. Thanks Linds, for keeping everyone updated on your beautiful little family. Looks like you are always having fun!!!
